A Pox on Them All

I just saw the insufferable David Axelrod on MSNBC spewing the old canard, “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”  We heard this horse crap repeatedly during the health care debate while the insurance companies were invited to the table first, the Public Option went the way of Vaudeville and the loony Right was allowed to carry the message with words like Socialism, Communism and death panels.
Axelrod is really saying, “Sit down and shut up your betters have things under control.”  Well they don’t and they never have.  This time he is talking about sensible gun regulation.  He is telling us not to get too attached to the assault weapons ban or the ban on large ammunition clips.  We have to be willing to settle for what we can get, because in the eyes of our “leaders” if it is a choice between what they want and what we want there is no choice.  Whether it is re-election or a legacy they come first and the people who help them buy their next election or place in history are far more important than we.
If you doubt this consider the discrepancy between what the American people want in terms of gun regulations as expressed repeatedly in every poll and what the whores in the House and Senate are willing to give us.  If you doubt this I suggest that you consider Obama’s recent decision with regard to protecting Monsanto.  In that case it was, “Don’t let the good be the enemy of the cash.”  A pox on all of them.
